Screenshots

Required

  • Currently, the size must be 4:3 aspect ratio.  The smallest is 920 x 690 and the largest is 1024 x 768
  • At least one in-game screenshot must be included.
  • No grid lines (use "Live" mode when taking screenshots in-game)
  • Must be PG-13
  • Must not include plumbobs, The Sims 4 logo, or any other official EA/Maxis graphics
  • Walls, Floors, and Terrains must show the content in use covering a multi-tile area. Single-tile samples of just the diffuse map as the preview will not be accepted.

We reject screenshots when:

  • they don't meet all of the requirements above
  • they're poor quality or too dark, or are overly obscured by text or other images
  • they misrepresent the content you're uploading (for example: have been enhanced in a paint program)
  • they include content not included in the game or in links you've entered in the submission form
  • they contain celebrities, brand names, official logos, or other copyrighted content (for legal reasons)
  • you've used a texture (such as the diffuse map) as the image instead of taking an image of the complete item

We suggest:

  • Making sure your images accurately show how the content appears when used in the game

  • Making sure the focus of your image is on the specific content you are trying to showcase

  • Avoid using large borders, text, or other decorative elements that block or distract from the image

Note that if you have your in-game graphics settings set to low, or are using "Laptop Mode," that you may not be seeing an accurate representation of your content. "Laptop Mode" most noticeably disables most transparency in the game, which can ruin the appearance of a lot of content. (Most notoriously, alpha hairstyles.)

Similarly, in "Low" graphics settings, the game does not render shadows, or the effects from the Specular Map or Normal Map textures in CAS/Build/Buy mode content. These textures can drastically alter the appearance of your content.

If our submissions team requests that you make any changes to the screenshots you've provided, please know we only do this to maintain quality and consistency across the site.  We're always happy to advise you if you're unsure whether your screens do not meet our requirements.

Examples

Check out the images below for some examples on how the presentation of content can be clarified by simply changing the angle and environment of the image:
