Requirements: build/buy objects

What to upload:

  • .package files
  • preview images

If you have multiple matching objects that form a set, then include them all in one submission.

If you have a one-off creation, such a painting or a rug that isn't supposed to be part of a set, then you can submit that as a single item.

Screenshots:

Essential

  • The size must be 4:3 aspect ratio.  The smallest is 920 x 690 and the largest is 1024 x 768 (recommended)
  • No grid lines (use "Live" mode to avoid this when taking screenshots in-game)
  • Must be PG-13
  • In-game screenshot(s) must be included

Recommended

  • Include a screenshot that sets out every piece in your set against a plain background.  This will help people see exactly what's included.
  • Try to avoid having too much unnecessary clutter in your image(s)

We reject screenshots when:

  • they don't meet all of the 'Essential' requirements above
  • they're poor quality or too dark, or are obscured too much by text or other images
  • they misrepresent the content you're uploading (for example: have been edited in a paint program or imply that the set includes content when it does not)
  • they contain named and/or known brands or other copyrighted materials (for legal reasons)

Links:

Essential

  • for retextures, please provide links to the original mesh unless it is an in-game object you've retextured
  • links must point to the original creator's submission (not a re-uploaded version)

We reject links when:

  • they don't meet the 'Essential" list above
  • they point to file-sharing or adware sites such as Megafile or AdFly
  • they point to content not freely available to the user (e.g. content locked behind a pay-wall)
  • they're broken

The objects:

Essential

  • must be your own work, or the license of the original creator allows you to alter and re-upload their work on a public site where others may download for their game.
  • any textures, patterns, or images you use must either be your own creation, or if you're using stock footage, it needs to either be content that you have acquired the rights to use (such as by purchasing a license, E.G. AdobeStock, ShutterStock, etc) or otherwise be copyright and royalty-free
  • must not be a commercial brand (this can lead to legal action taken against us so we don't allow brands of any kind)
  • must be within polycount limits (meshes)
  • must be properly textured
    • all textures must be updated to match your new design changes (normal map, specular map, light maps, snow maps, etc)
    • if you've created a new mesh (or changed the UV map of an existing mesh) for counters (both kitchen and retail), bars, changing tables, all plumbing items, dining tables, and appliances, then you must update the dirty material state for each swatch with a custom dirt map that matches your new mesh/UV layout
  • Any geostates present in the object must be updated to match your new mesh, in accordance with whatever the original function of that geostate was
  • The bone weights (sometimes called "vertex groups") of your new mesh should be set so that your new mesh animates in a similar way to the original object, or in a way that would reasonably be expected for that item
  • Color and Style tags must be set appropriately
  • Swatch colors should be set to accurately represent the variation they represent
